Sample Lessons
Below are lessons which I created for my clinical internship classroom, as well as my courses at Ramapo College.

Physical Sound Waves- Grade 1
This science lesson designed for a 1st grade classroom with the aim of being inquiry-based and student centered. This lesson aligns with NGSS Standard 1-PS4-1. This lesson plan is designed using the 5E model: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. Differentiation is included to meet the needs of all learners.
Mathematics- Grade 1
Created with the best practices in mathematics instruction in mind, the goal of this lesson is to teach students how to compare number values, using symbols. Built using the Concrete-Representational-Abstract lesson structure, this lesson opens with a number sense warmup that prompts students to think of numbers in a real-life scenario. Students are encouraged to use mathematics manipulatives during independent practice, such as counters and/or connecting cubes. This lesson aligns with NJSLS 1.NBT.B.3.

Reading Workshop- Grade 1
Using a Reading Workshop structure, students learn how to use the "Somebody...Wanted...But...So..." reading strategy, resulting in increased comprehension skills. In this lesson, I conduct a mini-lesson with the whole class on the classroom rug. Here, I conduct a short read-aloud and model using this strategy with what I just read. As students break to read independently, I meet with a small group to work on phonemic awareness using multi-sensory instructional methods. This lesson aligns with NJSLS RL.1.3 and NJSLS RF.1.3.
